X-Factor Costume #2 - Joe Quesada
a.k.a. "The Red and Gold Hormone
Inducer"
LEFT SIDE: Finally! This was actually the figure that started it all for me. After buying the Shiar figure and deciding to make my own I set about finding THE perfect figure for Polarisization. I found it in the form of a WildC.A.T.S. Voodoo figure on Ebay. It just took six weeks to get here. Sigh. Anyway, she was really great for this figure of Polaris in her infamous Joe Quesada hormone inducer. I used a different kind of paint on this figure and I am very pleased with the results. The bodysuit is metallic gold which looks great in person but didn't come across too well with my cheap digital camera. There wasn't much customizing neccesary (this was when perfect meant "easy"). I used air-hardening clay for her leg and arm bands. Other than that, just primer and some enamel model paint.
RIGHT SIDE: Sigh. This is the figure
that nearly killed my love for customizing action figures. I bought a Lady
Death figure on EBay, intending to turn it into the Kia Asyamia Polaris.
Well, it was argued, correctly, upon it's arrival that it was much better
suited to this incarnation. It is the spitting image of Joe Quesada's Polaris,
right down to the RIDICULOUSLY large...um...well....you have eyes. This
figure sat on the table for WEEKS, I just couldn't bring myself to finish
it. Basically a repaint save for a little cutting and sanding here and
there and the clay arm/leg band, belt and gloves. Somewhere in the middle
of it I decided to sell the figure on EBay (probably after watching a totally
creepy nude Polaris figure sell for over 30 bucks) but she became a little
damaged in the process of putting her head back on. So I have made a place
for her on the shelf with the rest of them, in the back. The way back.
