HOLY WAR! Uncanny X-Men #423 and #424

I really don't have much to say about the first installment of this two book story arc. This is a Polaris site and she was hardly in it - therefore pretty uninteresting.  Something about Nightcrawler... I don't know. And Alex strong arming (in his usual passive aggressive way) his way into a leadership role in the team.  Two frames of Polaris, she's pouting in both of them.  Oh yeah, the Church of Humanity crucifies a bunch of X-Men I haven't seen in forever.  A rather uninspired translation, I know, but it was rather...um...uninspiring. Anyone who wants this job is welcome to it!
Book two though saw a lot of Polaris action. It wasn't great storytelling, but it was fun. I have to keep in mind that these ARE comic books and not great works of classical literature. Lower my expectations. Lorna's new "badass without a cause" attitude was back in force, and I have to admit that I liked it. Random and violent, yes, but enjoyable to see her kick some ass and take names. Her non-chalant take on life and death -
SCOTT (whining): Lorna, you can't just...you'll KILL them...
LORNA (smiling): Yeah. I would expect so.  So what's your point?
could easily be a factor of a post traumatic stress reaction to witnessing the Genoshan massacre, or maybe she's just suffering from the wound that never heals. Who know? Who cares?! It's fun and I like it. (Yeah, things have gotten a lot better now that I've lowered those expectations). This and her previous "stupid people" quote pretty much sum up my own personal attitude about life these days so, YEA!, I can finally identify with Polaris again! heh.
She and Alex have zero interaction, again, so you can guess where their relationship is heading. He didn't even flinch when Jean reported that Lorna had been shot. Bobby weighed in with a "Lorna!" but I don't think that signifies a rekindling of their past relationship. Sorry.
Next up... here comes the bride!
