The results are in from
the great CURE OR COMMIT debate!
An overwhelming 52.5% of you wanted to see Lorna CURED
17.5% of you wanted the poor bunny COMMITED
17.5% of you were willing to LEAVE IT BE and see what happens
12.5% of you thought things were JUST FINE
Here's what some of you had to say:
"Poor Lorna; she's pretty much the butt of everyone's character
abuse. First of all, Alex doesn't deserve her. Let him have the human
chick, Lorna's better'n Annie any damn day. Second, she was already not
all there. To make her completely sane would contradict pretty much all
of Lorna's canon... she's had some kind of mental imabalance forever,
and is still one of the greatest ladies ever to wear the X. She doesn't
need to be sane to be non-homicidal. Third? I think they should just
leave the poor woman go. For heaven's sake, she deserves to be left
alone by the writers at Marvel, and I, for one, would like to see her
live the normal life she has longed for so many times... without
getting dragged back into the fray. I would just very much like the
old, not-sane-but-not-mischaracterized Lorna back."
"I love Lorna like this. It gives her a "beautifully disturbed" edge to
her personality that was lacking. She has depth now, and more
importantly, she showed she can pack a punch. "
"I have one suggestion: FIRE THE WRITER!!! The way they portrayed poor
Polaris is noting but bad writing. She acts nothing like an individual
who's snapped after seeing millions die before her eyes. She acts more
like someone who's been turned into some slutty villain because the
writer needed a team wildcard. Once a good writer steps in, she'll be
cured in no time! "
"She's most interesting as a villain, as in the begining, her
confrontation with the New X-men in UXM 90 something, her stint as
Malice's host... With Magneto "dead" is time for a new and dangerous
mistress of magnetism to arise and with her knowledge of the personal
lives of the X-men, her "genious" level inteligence as Doc Samson put
it in some X-Factor's issue, she easily could be the next leader of the
New Acolytes or even the brotherhood of Evil Mutants! "
"I think Austen has an incredibly shakey understanding of human nature;
trauma is one thing--Polaris is just *mean* now.;)"
"Why is it that Polaris is the only "crazy" person in the mansion?
Professor X has gone nuts several times. Phoenix is unstable and has a
horrible tmeper considering her powers. wolverine is a mass murderer.
So come on the X-Men are such hypocrites! "
"Really, they've got Charles, Emma, AND Lorna's red haired best friend,
so putting her mind back together shouldn't be that hard. Of course,
this is Austen, and logic has little to do with what he writes. "
"I am just sick of the "make the girl crazy" so all the Summers boys
can look less of a creep when they walk off. First Scott with Maddie
and Maddie's subsequent retcon into a looney, now we get Lorna crazy
and Alex dating some psycho who has a spooky kid who forces
relationships on people in dreams. "
"I LOVE THAT SHE IS CRAZY. SHE SAW 6 million people murdered infront of
her. Magneto saved her. You should have known she was crazy when she
called Magneto "Daddy" in NXM. So its really Morrison made her crazy.
Jean,Xorn, and Xavier can cure her and her and bobby can live happily
ever after. "
"Chuck Austen is a godawful character who cant write Polaris at all.
Lets make her throw Annie and her son off a building. And she shouldnt
be insane. "
"I'm tired of Polaris never quite getting that much deserved permanent
X-Man position, and the way they always have her carrying on, she'll
never be an A-lister. She's one of our oldest and dearest X-Women, and
I think she and Jean should be fighting side by side on a regular
basis. (Plus, all that red and green hair looks incredible together:) I
love the outbreaks of chaos as much as the next X-fan, but it seems
that Lorna is used as a plot-advancing pawn a bit too often and
conveniently. She needs to be seen as a real person, not just the crazy
chick who pops up whenever there is a lull in the action. Give poor
Lorna a break-- she could really use one! "
"I think Lorna will do just fine!!! :) The only thing I see wrong is
that she needs more charcter development, that is all!!! Thanks :)"
"I say cure her, but my remedy comes in the form of an exeedingly
limbre, 5'7 german teleporter with fur like velvet and a silver tongue
(anyone who's ever red excalibre will know what I am on about) Is it
just me or does someone SERIOUSLY need to sit Lorna down and say "Love,
your life really isn't that bad" Who better to do it that Kurt? He's
loveable, adorable and better yet, he's on the dig with them. I can see
Alex (he's a summers so you KNOW he's a deadhead) going right to the
alter and preparing to marry Lorna, just cos he hasn't the brain/
courage/ brain cell capacity to figure out it isn't really what he
wants. I personally think that Kurt could definatly get Lorna laughing
again as eveidence I reffer to the Uncanny X-men issue JUST before the
12 saga in which Lorna became paranoid that someone was stalking her.
She and Nighty spent a WHOLE NIGHT talking together in her appartment.
This is my thoughts anyway. "
"please please end the madness. Everything else Chuck Austin is doing
is cool. But this is goign to be the end (AGAIN) for Alex and Lorna.
andthat would make me very unhappy. "
"Lorna seems more confident now. Like she knows she can kick ass, so
she does. I like it. She won't take anything from stupid people. She
rocks! I really want to see her cut loose with her powers.I want to see
her with rage, really cut loose. Just kick some ASS already! "
"I mean, come on! She was one of two survivors out of 16 million
people, she was frolicking in corrosive sludge, of all things, and her
former lover just "came back from the dead." That's not just a bad
week... Commit her! "
